October Web Series Feature Partners in Sri Lanka and Garage Band Friends in NJ
October 21, 2010
The October installments of Episcopal Relief & Development’s two popular web series, Power of Partnerships and Friends of Episcopal Relief & Development, are now available online. Each month, these series highlight the work of those partnering with the agency to help people affected by poverty and disease worldwide.
In this month’s installment of Power of Partnerships, Episcopal Relief & Development’s Program Officer shares stories from Sri Lanka. Read about how hundreds of women are benefiting from a micro-finance program, and how entire communities are working together to recover from the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami and 25 years of civil war.
October’s Friends of Episcopal Relief & Development celebrates the success of “Garage Bands for Haiti,” a fundraiser put together by the youth group of St. George’s-by-the-River, in Rumson, New Jersey. Teens with friends in garage bands asked them to perform, and with a little help from Facebook and one particularly “awesome” concert poster, the event became a great success!
