We partner with AANGLIDESH to promote the role of women. AANGLIDESH focuses on community savings groups that enable members to grow their personal savings, borrow money and invest in their small businesses to build resilience and improve their ability to manage household needs. Participants also discuss domestic and gender-based violence, health, hygiene, and nutrition during the education sessions.
Episcopal Relief & Development also supports Siempre Unidos’ Siloe Project to uphold the dignity of people such as commercial sex workers, LGBTQ+ people, people living in slums, incarcerated people and ethnic minority communities. The project aims to prevent sexual and gender-based violence through awareness education, and by empowering faith leaders to speak out against violence.
Together with the Episcopal Diocese of Honduras we have provided emergency assistance to families who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and Hurricanes Eta and Iota. Leaders taught community members to make cloth face masks to reduce the spread of the virus and facilitated virtual trainings on health and hygiene.
With Episcopal Relief & Development support, the diocese’s El Hogar education and social service agency provided data plans and tablets to support hybrid learning for 50 students. El Hogar also distributed food to families that have been particularly affected by the pandemic and multiple hurricanes.
